25 DAYS OF INVENTORS: ELECTRIC BLANKET & THE ICE BLANKET

The Electric Blanket

1912: Dr. Sidney I. Russell invented the first ever electric blanket in 1912. Russell intended for the electric blanket as an easier way to keep patients warm and the public didn’t really show any interest until a British company started producing a version in the 1920s. Since then, many different versions of the electric, or heating, blanket have been produced and it has evolved into a safe, more user friendly convenience. The product has become fairly popular all across the world and millions continued to be sold every year.

Freya Paterson a year 7 student from Parkhill Primary School in Scotland has decided to use the idea of an electric blanket but for your car. So when it’s a cold night and your windscreen freezes up you place the ice blanket on over night ready for the morning.  You can activate the blanket by an app on your phone.

On these cold morning think we all need both of these useful inventions.
