We are Team Proto 2019-2020, engineering students from Glasgow Caledonian University. The team will be creating ‘The Flat Pack Wind Turbine’ and ‘The Fairground Garden’.
For the second year, Glasgow Caledonian University have joined us to create pupils’ designs for the #IfYouWereAnEngineerWhatWouldYouDo competition for Scotland. This year, students Daniel Udaigwe (Electrical Engineer), Akbar Malik (Mechanical Engineer), Biniam Neguesse (Electrical Engineer), Euan Slevin (Mechanical Engineer), Sarfraz Muhammed (Electrical Engineer) and Haddadi Mehran (Mechanical Engineer), join us to refine the build of the ‘Flat Pack Wind Turbine’.
Douglas M, a 3rd-year student from The Royal High School in Edinburgh, created the ‘Flatpack Wind Turbine’, to get electricity to refugee camps where there is barely enough room for refugees to sleep! Douglas imagined that these turbines could be used in remote areas with no access to power, refugee camps and places hit by natural disasters.
The project is an extension from 2018-2019 proto build and we cannot wait to see the development!
Glasgow Caledonian University have also chosen a second design to build. Goitseone Gondo has chosen to create ‘The Fairground Garden’, by Patrick M, as an individual project.
‘The Fairground Garden’ enables wheelchair users to plant their favourite flowers and herbs. All the planters are secured on a rotating bolt, allowing the planter to stay upright at all times.
