The Leaders Award 'If you were an engineer what would you do?'

From your living room!

The Leaders Award focuses on creative problem solving, looking at the things we use and the world we live in. This activity is open to anyone between the ages of 3 and 19yrs. The premise of the activity is to find a problem to solve, draw and annotate the solution and write a letter to an engineer to explain why they should choose to build it.
As we are likely to be at home for some time our intention is to encourage this to be a weekly challenge, using recorded or live interviews to focus on problem-solving and use the resources to help structure a creative solution. In addition, a persuasive letter should be written for each idea.
Engineer interview dates will be published and shared through our social media channels and website so please follow our Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts.
Register here to access the resources page.
To complete the project and just before we can head back to school, we will ask you as a family to choose each child/young adults’ best idea and letter. The teacher can then be impressed at the creativity, problem solving skills that have developed and persuasive letter writing skills demonstrated! They will then be asked to collate the entries and post them to us to grade and select for Awards and Exhibitions.
PLEASE DO NOT POST DIRECTLY TO US AT THIS TIME.
For obvious reasons we cannot collect postal entries and we also do not want to swamp the postal system at a time it will be focusing on more important deliveries.
We will look forward to reading your ideas in September!
