Following with \u201cI became an engineer because\u00a0<em>[insert what inspired you to become an engineer].<\/em>\u00a0So tell me, If You Were An Engineer What Would You Do?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>These videos are used on our official LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Youtube channels, as well as the Leaders Award website and by submitting the video you agree to us sharing the content to support schools and pupils and for marketing purposes. These videos focus on engineering and would include what you were like at school.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Who you are,<\/li>\n<li>Your role,<\/li>\n<li>The organisation you work for<\/li>\n<li>Your journey to becoming an engineer.<\/li>\n<li>Address any of the following if you are comfortable sharing to encourage children to pursue their engineering aspirations.\n<ul>\n<li>Did you face any struggles?<\/li>\n<li>Were you told you couldn\u2019t be an engineer? Did that push you further? How did you overcome this?<\/li>\n<li>What inspired you to become an engineer?<\/li>\n<li>Were there any engineers who inspired you?<\/li>\n<li>Any books or films you would recommend to budding engineers?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Alternatively you can present a topic in your specialist field. Discuss\n<ul>\n<li>What you do?<\/li>\n<li>What does the role entail?<\/li>\n<li>Which skills\/experiences are required?<\/li>\n<li>Share something \u2018cool\u2019 in your field children would engage with.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Answer the following question. Our live interviews are held on\u202fZoom and live steamed through YouTube\/Facebook where the recording will be hosted after the interview.<\/p>\n<p>The first part of the interview will be your presentation. In your presentation you will discuss your role and then focus on a skill\/topic within engineering you would like to share with the competition participants.\u00a0The presentation is usually around 10-15 minutes and you can choose the medium you use such as PowerPoint or speaking directly to the camera and using props to support your discussion.<\/p>\n<p>This is then is followed by a 15 minute live Q&amp;A. We then introduce you to the teacher at the school. Once you and the teacher who has made the request are happy to be introduced, we will make introductions so you can directly schedule a visit or an online call between yourselves.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;1\/12&#8243;][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1599515220132{background-color: #deedeb !important;}&#8221;][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;1\/12&#8243;][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;10\/12&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h3>Raise Your Voice &amp; Share Your Story<\/h3>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Resource Hub<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>This year we will be launching\u00a0 our\u00a0 Resource Hub. We will be looking to publish blogs, articles, reports, whitepapers and features. We will be inviting engineers and engineering professionals to share their content.<\/p>\n<p>The content can be you<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>sharing skills or insights,<\/li>\n<li>an opinion piece,<\/li>\n<li>an exciting story from your career<\/li>\n<li>your journey to becoming an engineering professional<\/li>\n<li>or anything that the participants of If You Were An Engineer, What Would You Do?<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> Competition would find of value in their entries and other engineering professionals would find useful.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Articles will be published digitally. The audience will be schools, industry professionals and pupils entering the competition, so you can tailor to target any of these.<\/p>\n<p>You would need to provide your short bio and profile picture to accompany the feature.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;1\/12&#8243;][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;1\/12&#8243;][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;10\/12&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h3>Official Graders<\/h3>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Throughout the year, we receive entries from school and home learners for the &#8220;If You Were An Engineer, What Would You Do?&#8221;<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> competition.<\/p>\n<p>For children who have entered, knowing engineers read the entries is hugely inspirational and grading helps demonstrate just how much engineers care about the engagement of young people with engineering. We therefore invite you to join us and register to become an official grader.
