Engineering students from UWE’s EngWest Studio will make the creative imaginings of primary school children across the South West come to life

The University of the West of England, Bristol (UWE) is the university partner along with DE&S (the MOD Defence Equipment and Supplies) support the annual Primary Engineer & Secondary Engineer Leaders Award competition for South West England. Staff and student engineers will be interviewed by primary and secondary school pupils across the Bristol region and further afield to find out more about engineering. The children are then challenged to design a solution to a problem they wish to tackle. The winners of the South West competition will be showcased at UWE in June 2018.

UWE’s engineering entrepreneurs from the EngWest studio are being challenged to bring this design to life in 2018. The aim is to take one of the winning concepts, develop the design and build it into a full scale functioning prototype. The students will also help to promote science and engineering in schools and give an insight into the process behind designing and manufacturing a product. Follow them on Twitter to find out more about the project as it goes along! @EngineeringUWE
